What do you look for in a babymoon? Total relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of daily life? A break from decorating the nursery or buying prams? Fantastic food? A little bit of pampering?
A babymoon in Yorkshire at the North Star Club ticks all these boxes and more.
The North Star Club is a luxury woodland experience in the Yorkshire Wolds, offering stays in stylish suites situated within 500 acres of native forest. Each of the 8 enchanting suites are individually designed and furnished, and have everything you need for a magical babymoon.
The 8 woodland suites are named after inspiring people and places from the local area – for example, the Amy Johnson suite was named after the first female pilot to fly solo from Britain to Australia.
They all have a sitting room overlooking the forest, a large bedroom, second bedroom, enormous bathroom and cozy wood burner with plenty of logs. Outside there is a large veranda with table and chairs and a BBQ – but best of all, the forest is literally feet away from your door.
It isn’t long before you start to switch off from normal life and tune in to the sights and sounds from the forest. It is literally teeming with wildlife – pheasants wander past your door, you can hear owls swooping past at dusk, adders come out and sunbathe in the summer – and if you are lucky you may even see a deer!
The suites are completely private with a generous amount of space between each one. They are in such a peaceful setting that you can almost feel yourself relaxing as soon as you arrive. This is the type of place where you can reconnect with nature, yourself and your partner. Conversations you’ve been meaning to have will finally happen, you will get the opportunity to reminisce and laugh about past adventures you’ve had together, and chat excitedly about the new adventures you are going to have when baby arrives. There is no TV and no distractions to take you away from the here and now.
It’s the little things that make the difference at the North Star Club. The handmade beds from Whitby, combined with the peace of the forest, means that you will have a wonderful nights sleep and feel revitalized the next morning. The enormous bathroom with a roll top bath and a walk in shower make you say ‘WOW’ as soon as you walk in. The log burner heating your bedroom keeps you warm all night long. There is even a basket of rugs to keep you warm on a cooler night when sitting outside on the veranda, and some marshmallows to toast on the fire.
The Woodshed is the communal building, which is the hive of the community at the North Star Club. You can wander over to relax around the fire with a mug of hot chocolate or homemade cake on the comfy settees.
Outside the Woodshed is the ‘campfire’ where you can roast some marshmallows and do some star gazing if the skies are clear.
Yorkshire Gastronomic Delights
Did you know Yorkshire has the largest number of Michelin Star restaurants in the UK? The North Star Club is not self-catering, but this gives you the opportunity to test out some of the world class restaurants around the Club!
The Star at Sancton is well worth a visit for an evening meal. This pub is aprox 1 mile walk away from the Club or an easy drive, and serves fantastic locally sourced food, wines and micro beers in a relaxed pub environment. We loved the braised and crisped belly pork, greedy little pig chorizo cassoulet with a black pudding followed by the figgy flapjack, honey ice cream, roast fresh fig with rolled oat tuille, fruity granola and fig jam. It’s the perfect place for a treat.
The Star at Sancton can deliver Breakfast Baskets to your suite – if you fancy waking up to a sweet pastry, croissant, yoghurt and fruit with homemade jams and Yorkshire Tea, be sure to book your breakfast in advance.
The Pipe and Glass is a Michelin star pub which is 15 minutes away from the North Star Club.
A babymoon is all about the relaxation, and what could be better than a beauty treatment in the comfort of your own woodland suite? Ruth, the Beauty Therapist at the North Star Club, offers a range of beauty treatments including facials, manicures and pedicures to all guests.

I would recommend taking the following things on a babymoon at the North Star Club: a torch, a few good books, wellies, nibbles and something (non alcoholic!) to drink.
There is plenty of parking onsite and you can drive close to your cabin to drop your luggage off before returning your car to the car park.
The nearest mainline train station is York. A car would be advisable so you can explore beautiful North Yorkshire.
Thanks to the North Star Club for our stay.
