10 Best Things To Do Around Casa Almoros With Babies And Toddlers

These fabulous recommendations have been suggested by Nikki from Casa Almoros.  There are some real hidden gems which are perfect for families with babies and toddlers – enjoy!

  • Santa Pola is our favourite “go to beach” and specifically Playa Lisa. The water is calm, warm and shallow for little ones and the sand great for building sandcastles. There are lots of typically Spanish restaurants along the beach too which makes it a great option to mingle with the locals and practice your Spanish. There is also a castle, small aquarium and lovely marina to wander around when you are in Santa Pola. This is around a 50minute drive.

  • Aquopolis is the best waterpark in the area for under 5’s. It isn’t too big and there are big dedicated areas for little ones. The lifeguards are very attentive and there are both grassed areas to set your towel down on or pay a little extra for sunbeds or a cabana. There are a selection of snack bars in the park or we like to take along a picnic and sit in the shade of the trees. This is about a 60minute drive.

  • The Valor Chocolate factory is definitely worth a visit. Valor is to the Spanish is what Cadbury is to the English, a national treasure. The factory does free guided visits in English every day and you even get to sample some of the chocolate. The factory is in the lovely seaside resort of Villajoyosa which is famous for its colourful fishermans cottages. Take a trip to the factory in the morning and have lunch by the sea in the afternoon. There is also a lovely golden beach there too to round off the day.

  • Rio Safari is a lovely little zoo in Elche. Watch sea lions perform, ride on the little safari train and feed the giraffe, it is a really lovely way to spend a few hours. There is also a splash park to cool off in, a couple of restaurants and picnic tables if you’d rather do your own thing. This is about a 45minute drive.

  • Alicante is one of our favourite cities. Often dismissed as just being “an airport” the city itself is beautiful, very family friendly, full of history, a huge selection of restaurants, there is an imposing castle to explore, a funfair for the little ones, a casino, various museums and a lovely beach. Alicante is around a 40minute drive from Casas Almorós.

  • Mundo Mar (Sea World) in Benidorm is definitely worth a visit. Of all the zoos, we think this is the cleanest and well kept, a real pleasure to visit with loads of covered areas to get out of the sun. They also run shows throughout the day. Make sure you see the Dolphin Show set to the music of Phantom of the Opera…stunning, sends tingles down your spine. They have a great kids play park for kids of all ages. Our kids could easily spend the whole day just in the park. Again there are picnic areas available.

  • La Romana our local village is around a 7minute drive from Casas Almorós. It is a sleepy, traditional Spanish town with an old time feel. The village is built on wine production, olive & almond farming shoe making and marble. We are lucky to have some really good tapas restaurants but more importantly there are 3 fun play parks for the little ones and one even has a zipline for little ones to explore.

  • Terra Natura is a much larger zoo near to Benidorm. The park is divided into continents which the little ones can explore following a map.  Make sure you go and feed the elephants, watch the bird of prey show and the tigers are amazing to watch. There is a great play area too. You can combine this with a trip to Aqua Natura water park which is right next door. This is about a 60minute drive.

  • Nickelodeon Adventure is one of the only big indoor activities for children in the area so its great for when it might be just a little too hot or the occasional rainy day. Divided into Nickelodeon character adventure zones there are rides to go on, a 4D cinema and you might even meet the Paw Patrol, Ninja Turtles or Spongebob Squarepants. What is even better is children under 90cm get in free. It is about a 60minute drive.

  • Dinopark is quite a drive, about 90minutes away but if you have a Dino-mad little one it is definitely worth a visit. It’s up in the mountains and is basically full of dinosaurs, some which move and make noises. There’s a sandpit where the kids can dig for dinosaur bones and a small plunge pool for the kids to cool off in summer. They also have a 3D cinema and picnic area. Our little boy would live there if he could!
